PSI 2026: ElasticSearch AI for DataPath SW Products (Duluth, GA)

ElasticSearch AI for DataPath SW Products

DataPath

Home

Our goal is to produce an ElasticSearch AI enabled event database and log analysis tool and successfully demonstrate its capability to identify the most likely issue(s) for a terminal’s operational issue(s), whether in production, development, or operating in the field.

Project Description

DataPath’s 3 software products all produce significant amount of log files. These logs are many times disjointed across modules, components, and timestamps. After hardware build out and production assembly of new, replacement, or existing terminal components, our team(s) perform initial testing with our software and often find issues which need troubleshooting.  In these cases, it is often not immediately obvious the problem is HW or SW, and this often requires engaging software engineers to assist in troubleshooting and slows or interrupts the production process. This project will utilize ElasticSearch AI to ingest logs from each software product with the goal to provide quick, efficient analysis for the systems. We can identify logging and database techniques that will work best with ElasticSearch and for analysis and visualization. This capability can be used by internal teams such as Production, Development, and Test; however, it can also be included as part of our Software product offerings for customers to take advantage of as well.

Deliverables:

Interns will provide:

– Design Plan (supported by Project Leader/Senior Engineers) for the tool

– Analysis of toolset to use in this project (language, modules, plugins with all security processes/concerns documented)

– Source Code of the tool itself

– Demo / Presentation of the tool for key internal stakeholders

Qualifications & Intern Benefits

Required Qualifications:

– Independent Problem Solving

– Communication

– Team Player

– AI tools

– Basic understanding of databases

– Software Development/Testing knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

– Device Communications

– SatCom

– Cloud/DevOps with AI

Intern Learning Objectives:

The main task will be the ElasticSearch AI tool for DataPath software products. There are other potential projects for using AI to learn to create our driver files used in our MaxView product or to expand the HW Engineering validation tool created by PIN interns this past summer.

Additional Resources Provided:

Access to any department resources, which could include training/learning subscription or company hosted training events during their internship.

Additional Information

DataPath was very excited to be a part of the initial AI internship the summer of 2025. The experience was beneficial for both interns and students. With more time to prepare this time, we have even bigger ambitions of how to leverage AI in Manufacturing for improvements for DataPath and our customers. We would love to once again be a part of this initiative and look forward  to multiyear opportunities with PIN in the future.
