The PIN Summer Internship (PSI) uses collaboration, diversity and forward thinking to elevate the outcomes of our communities and environment. Our competitive, immersive 12-week program brings together extraordinary cohorts of interns representing colleges and universities nationwide and communities around the world. With a presence across the Southeast United States, the talent and diversity from these cohorts have demonstrated major feats. In just a few years, we’ve evolved from a modest initiative to an unparalleled platform for innovation. To date, our 2023 PSI cohort of 63 interns stands as our largest, most competitive, and most diverse group.
Impactful Endeavors
In 2023, our intern cohort embarked on 35 transformative projects across 15 communities. From enhancing community resilience and digital equity to fostering economic mobility and sustainable living, their endeavors spanned a spectrum of pressing public issues. See a full list of our projects on our projects page.
Empowering Next-Generation Innovators
The PSI focuses on developing inclusive, intentional collaborations and elevated experiential learning. Guiding next-generation innovators, we challenge them to confront intricate community challenges using public innovation and civic technologies across Georgia and the Southeast region. Students from public and private higher education institutions of any degree level, major, or visa status (eligibility criteria apply to foreign visa holders) are welcome to apply. See our eligibility requirements and our PSI webinar for more details.
About the Experience
Our program pairs two interns with each Project site to facilitate cross-learning and co-creation. During the course of the internship, interns are involved in weekly programming, enriched by seminars in innovation, career development and mentorship. We believe in the power of paid internships to level the professional playing field, where socioeconomic status does not limit opportunities.
In addition to this well-rounded experience, the PIN Summer Internship offers highly competitive benefits:
- Insight into projects leveraging public innovation and civic technologies for the public good.
- A chance to collaborate on local government, community, or research initiatives.
- Expansion of your professional network.
- A summer living stipend of $8,000 (pre-tax) paid biweekly over 12 weeks (May 13 – Aug. 2).
- Additional professional development programming enriched by our esteemed collaborators.
- Support and facilitation from our PIN team throughout your journey.
Selected interns are expected to reside and work within their selected communities or project cities for the entirety of the 12-week term. At the conclusion of this program, interns will gather in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 2, 2024, for in-person final presentations via a closing ceremony and poster showcase.
