Become a Project Host
2023 Smart Community Corps host sites have already been selected. Please check back in September 2023 for updates.
The Smart Community Corps (SCC), the Partnership’s signature student engagement program, engages public or community sector organizations and public-private collaboratives as internship host sites for students engaged in all levels of higher education.
Currently, the SCC is actively recruiting internship host sites for summer 2023 internships. If you represent a municipality, organization or collaborative that is seeking innovative, inclusive, technology-based solutions to local, state, national, or global issues and are dedicated to creating livable and equitable communities, you could be a great fit as a host site for our student interns. Internships are project-based and should foster student development. You’ll benefit from the thinking and collaboration of these bright young leaders who will make a substantial contribution to your project.
Host Site Application and Expectations
Host sites are invited to apply to host a pair of SCC interns for 12 weeks over the summer (May 15 – August 4). Host sites are expected to provide substantial work toward the project as it relates to students’ experiential learning goals, supervision and mentorship for the interns.
Interns receive a bi-weekly stipend from SCC, are expected to live in the community they serve and have reliable transportation to and from the work site. Interns not already living in the host site community may need assistance from the host site in locating safe, affordable housing. However, the host site is not responsible for housing costs.
Additional expectations can be found here in the 2023 Site Host Application Guide.
