Upper Coosa Swim Guide & Data Mapping
Interns will support the Swim Guide program by conducting weekly water quality monitoring at 30 popular recreation sites across the upper Coosa River basin. They will serve in roles as Field Techs for sample collection or Lab Managers for sample processing. This hands-on science project helps inform the public about water safety.
The storytelling component involves creating a Story Map focused on advocacy efforts like coal ash ponds, PFAS contamination, and erosion. Interns will work together to map local water issues and highlight conservation efforts in the basin. Deliverables include weekly water data reports and finalized Story Map content.
