Athens-Clarke County Neighborhood Climate Resilience Project

The Athens-Clarke County Neighborhood Resilience Project leverages the deployment of transportation and communications technology to prevent community harm caused by extreme weather events. The project is a collaboration between Athens-Clarke County local government and researchers from three University System of Georgia institutions towards reimagining how neighborhood disaster prevention can improve the lives of residents in a community experiencing rapid economic development and population growth.

SCC interns will monitor the deployment and uptake of a disaster prevention communications technology, participate in participant recruitment and retention, and conduct a systematic implementation evaluation to identify scalable population intervention targets. Interns will also build capacity to support timely cross-disciplinary project milestones between spring/summer 2023 including report synthesis and community information sharing and dissemination of research findings to ensure near-term uptake.

With the help of SCC interns, this project will reduce the susceptibility of Athens-Clarke County to extreme weather events by leveraging transportation and communication technology. To view a larger image of this presentation, click here.
