SAM Lab
Modernizing the Transit System
The Socially Aware Mobility Lab project research hopes to fundamentally change how people are connected to jobs, health-care services, education, and high-quality groceries by focusing on the next generation of public transit systems. In the summer of 2022, Smart Community Corps interns will work with the SAM team to refine, improve, and expand the mobile applications in order to make on-demand transit to many population segments,
Working with project lead, Dr. Pascal Van Hentenryck, Associate Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and A. Russell Chandler III Chair and Professor at Georgia Tech, SCC interns will work on improving the service as simple as possible for people with disabilities and for people with no access to cell phones. Interns will also work on automating functions that are still manual at this point in the implementation of on-demand transit systems.
