Smart City Digital Twin Pilot Project
This ongoing project develops a smart city digital twin platform in Decatur, GA for monitoring the urban heat island effect. Interns will manage and expand the existing IoT sensor network and integrate new data pipelines. The work informs both near-term and long-term local government planning.
Field and literary research will be conducted into RFID sensor applications and wireless mesh network expansions. Interns will gain experience in GIS products, database management, and urban analytics while exposed to a regional planning task force. Deliverables include sensor network updates and recommendations reports.
