This internship focuses on leading a groundbreaking Black museum anthropology project through the curation of the “Georgia 21-Day Kulture Keeper Challenge.” Working under the mentorship of Dr. Deborah Johnson-Simon, the intern will design and manage a statewide initiative to identify and celebrate Georgia’s cultural memory keepers, including elders, educators, and preservationists. Primary responsibilities include creating daily social media prompts and graphics, engaging diverse civic and religious groups, and establishing a robust record system for the ADMI archives to build public awareness of these vital community figures.

The project culminates in the creation of a sophisticated virtual storytelling exhibition titled “Georgia Kulture Keepers: Stories from 159 Counties.” Utilizing digital humanities tools such as ArcGIS StoryMaps, Knight Lab, and audio/video modules, the intern will transform community research and oral histories into a professional digital gallery. This exhibition will be integrated into the ADMI Virtual Museum & Research Archive, providing the intern with a portfolio-ready deliverable that contributes to the national documentation of Black museum anthropology and cultural data collection.
