Georgia River Guide App
Georgia River Network
The Georgia River Network is a collaborative leader in river recreation and protection across the state, and a leading voice for the protection of the Okefenokee Swamp from mining. Developed by the Georgia River Network, the Georgia River Guide App is an innovative tool to get more people on Georgia’s waterways to better connect with these waterways and learn more about ways to protect them from environmental hazards. The River Guide App is under constant construction and being updated with new information, specifically, The Georgia River Network plans to add rivers to the Georgia River Guide app to support rural economic development initiatives.
SCC interns will add new rivers to the app to benefit those communities for rural economic development. Interns will also support Paddle Georgia River trips with mapping and water quality testing and innovative advocacy campaign support. Interns will gain skills in app development and management, marketing, networking with river groups across the state, and learning how to support river and swamp-based tourism as well as the protection of our waterways through advocacy.
With the help of SCC interns, this project will develop existing tools to support rural and economic development initiatives and encourage advocacy for Georgia’s waterways. To view a larger image of this presentation, click here.
