Environmental health and safety are extremely important to community development and citizen well-being. The GA Water Coalition (Science For Georgia & Savannah Riverkeeper), employed a PIN Fellow on a 6-month project focusing on identifying environmental hazards and getting critical, digestible information to citizens in Augusta, GA.

The PIN Fellow was instrumental in identifying & displaying sources of recent and legacy environmental pollution, and documenting impacts of pollutants to human health and the environment. The overall impact of this project: 1) educated citizens about toxic releases that have/are occurred and occurring and what hazardous sites exist in their community, and 2) in provided the hard data required for citizens to advocate for their public and environmental health to companies and legislators.
